“What happens when an abortion survivor finds her birthmother who never knew her daughter was alive?” That question seems like something from a movie, but it’s the true story of a woman named Melissa. At 14 years old Melissa learned she was the survivor of a failed saline infusion abortion at seven months gestation. Her remarkable testimony is told in her book,“You Carried Me, A Daughter’s Memoir.” The book shares her adoption story, the search for her biological family and their moving reconciliation.
Melissa Ohden is a wife, mother and committed pro-life advocate. She has a Masters degree in Social work and experience in the fields of mental health, sexual assault, domestic violence and substance abuse. Ohden is the founder of The Abortion Survivors Network, an organization that educates the public about failed abortions and provides mental, emotional and spiritual support to survivors. Since the start of Abortion Survivors Network Melissa has helped over 200 survivors. Melissa has testified before the U.S House of Representatives, Senate and the Australian Parliament on behalf of the preborn. She has appeared on a number of television and radio programs including: Fox News, Focus on the Family, the Mike Huckabee show, The 700 Club, EWTN and more.
On Sept 16th, this amazing pro-life voice is coming to Connecticut to share her inspiring story. The event she’ll be speaking at is the CT Right to Life Eastern chapter’s Fall 2017 Conference. Family Institute of Connecticut’s President Peter Wolfgang will be sharing a brief but important message, informing us about the work of FIC in the fight for faith and family values.
