Deadline to Register to Testify is 3 pm Today (2/22/22) on Assisted Suicide Bill

The Public Health Committee’s public hearing on S.B. 88, the Assisted Suicide Bill, is tomorrow (Wednesday, Feb. 23rd).

However, the deadline to register to testify against the bill is TODAY (Tuesday, Feb. 22nd) by 3 pm.

We need as many Connecticut citizens as possible to testify verbally against S.B. 88. The public hearing will be via Zoom, not in-person.

Individuals who wish to testify via Zoom must register using the On-line Testimony Registration Form

Speaker order of approved registrants will be posted on the Public Health Committee website tonight at 6:00 P.M. under Public Hearing Testimony.

Speakers will be limited to three minutes of testimony.  The Committee encourages witnesses to submit a written statement and to condense oral testimony to a summary of that statement.

In fact, for those who cannot testify at tomorrow’s hearing, we still need you to submit written testimony against the Assisted Suicide bill. Everyone should be able to do this.

You can use information from FIC’s Fact Sheet.

Please email written testimony in Word or PDF format to PHtestimony@cga.ct.gov.  Testimony should clearly state testifier name and related bill number. (S.B. 88 “An Act Concerning Aid in Dying for Terminally Ill Patients,” is the name of the Assisted Suicide bill)

The Public Health Committee’s public hearing on the Assisted Suicide bill will begin tomorrow at 9:00 A.M. via Zoom.  The public hearing can be viewed via YouTube Live.  In addition, the public hearing may be recorded and broadcast live on CT-N.com

Your testimony does not have to be complicated. It does not have to be long. We just need as many people as possible to send something to the Public Health Committee, following the above links and deadlines, letting them know you oppose the Assisted Suicide bill.

Thank you!
