In response to Title IX Complaints filed by Family Institute of Connecticut Action, the U.S. Department of Education Office of Civil Rights announced on January 14 that it will conduct an investigation of Waterbury Public Schools. If you have been following our blog, you know that we filed a complaint in September 2025 and updated it. In our complaints, sent to all the schools in the Naugatuck Valley Athletic League, we informed each school that they were violating Title IX, harming their girls and were putting their federal funding at risk.
Now everyone can know that our complaint is serious, thanks in part to our many members who responded to our call to use “X” (formerly twitter) to tag the Secretary of the Department of Education asking her to accept our complaint and pursue justice for Connecticut girls. “We will leave no stone unturned in these investigations to uphold women’s right to equal access in education programs—a fight that started over half a century ago and is far from finished” stated the OCR in response to our complaint and others.
The interpretation made by the schools of the Naugatuck Valley League is not consistent with CT state law, which permits common sense acknowledgment of “sex” while still not discriminating based on “gender identity”. We are celebrating this breakthrough, but ask you to continue to pray for success of our complaint and for Connecticut schools to respect sex definitions and protect CT girls.
As noted in Leslie Wolfgang’s OpEd, this policy of placing effeminate-presenting young men on the girls’ teams is not even good for the boy. Permanent health risks flow from “gender affirming care” along with a lifetime of regret and dysfunction. We were willing to speak out on behalf of the girls, but also for young men who are being told a lie that they can change their sex.

We have been harangued online, but we have not been alone in this fight, we’ve had our members support. We continue to need your prayers and support as we supplement out Title IX filing as spring sports start in 2026. Please continue to follow our blog and sign up for our e-mails if you haven’t already. Family Institute of Connecticut Action donations are not tax-deductible, but your donation to that entity will help us with our Title IX efforts in Connecticut.
