Thanks to everyone who turned out to protest Cecile Richards’s appearance at Planned Parenthood of Southern New England’s fundraiser last week. Our presence could not be missed by countless passers-by; the protest was also covered by the New Haven Register.

imageKathy Upson, who organized that protest, has another opportunity for you to speak truth where Connecticut’s pro-abortion elites are gathered. On Thursday, November 19, NARAL CT will hold its annual “Carnival for Choice” — an event with implications ranging from the sick and bizarre (especially if you’re an etymology nut like me and know that ‘Carnival’ comes from the word for flesh) to the ridiculous (“Bearded Lady” sponsorship level? For real?) One year, this was held at the Carousel Museum in Bristol. I couldn’t help thinking of all the children who will never ride a carousel thanks to the efforts of NARAL; my sign said as much.

The protest will begin at 5:30 p.m.

As Kathy notes, this event is typically attended by Connecticut politicians at every level of power. There is likely to be a heavy focus this year on NARAL’s attempts to bully and silence life-affirming pregnancy centers that offer women a real choice. Middletown residents in particular: observe that your representative Matt Lesser will be receiving an award. Just sayin’. Lesser was on board, although Senator Blumenthal was the highest-ranking official, when NARAL held its joke of a press conference “exposé” in the spring of this year, whining about how pregnancy centers outnumber abortion clinics and have the nerve to locate in poor neighborhoods or advertise in Spanish, which of course abortionistas neeever do. Please read this recent Yale Herald piece in which the author, apparently attempting to employ good journalism in spite of some obvious bias, admits how flimsy NARAL’s allegations are and how she personally experienced warmth and professionalism from pro-life women doing this lifesaving work.

Please join Kathy and others on the 19th to send a message to NARAL and its friends in high places: harassing pregnancy centers is unacceptable, and the snuffing out of precious lives is not fun and games.
