The dinner “Babies in Bloom”, will be held at Amarante’s Sea Cliff restaurant in New Haven, CT. FIC’s Executive Director Peter Wolfgang is the guest speaker and his talk is sure to inspire. During the evening the staff at St. Gianna’s will honor Vincent Candelora, Connecticut State Representative in the 86th General Assembly District, and Michael Ferraro and his wife Barbara Ferraro, longtime supporters of life and the St, Gianna Pregnancy Resource Center. Go to the Benefit Dinner page for details and to order your tickets or give a donation.

St. Gianna’s pregnancy center has a mission to show God’s love and mercy to all mothers and their unborn babies in a gentle and caring manner, from the initial encounter to birth and beyond. They provide encouragement, support and education during and after pregnancy. Their mission statement says they provide a place where families can welcome the life of their child with confidence and joy!

Carolyn Falcigno is the center’s executive director, She played a vital role in launching the center. Their website shares the amazing story of what led to the center’s development:

“On the evening of November 4, 1991, Fr. Rousseau, then pastor of St. John the Evangelist Church in Watertown, CT, was leaving a meeting in the church. He heard a baby’s cry coming from a box: a baby.

Fr. Rousseau had one of the women at the meeting, whom he knew was a nurse, help while someone called 911. The baby was no more than three hours old. She was taken to Waterbury Hospital by the emergency team.

Fr. Rousseau suggested they give the foundling child a name. Because November 4 is the feast of St. Charles Borromeo, he called her Carolyn and he gave her the middle name Marie for our Blessed Mother.

Carolyn Marie was adopted confidentially but her story did not end there. With the prayers and hard work of a core group of parishioners, one year later, Carolyn’s Place, Inc. opened its doors, in order that “No woman should face pregnancy alone.”

The money raised at this banquet will go towards the expenses of the center, which are $40,000 per year – according to a summer 2018 letter. Here are the services the St. Gianna’s Pregnancy Resource Center provides free of charge to women and families in New Haven and surrounding cities:
