"I Came Not to Call the Righteous, but Sinners..."

Recognizing, of course, that we are all sinners (Romans 3:23) and that Pope Francis himself is a figure of controversy on the Right, Family Institute of Connecticut is nevertheless delighted that Gov. Dannel Malloy will be meeting the Pope tomorrow.

Gov. Malloy’s support for the taking of the life of unborn children, and for depriving born children of a mom and a dad, has put him, as CT Mirror delicately reports, “at odds” with the Catholic Church. The Governor displays this oddness in his false claim that a “spirit of inclusion” had been “absent” in the Church since the election of St. John Paul II.

As noted at the 5 minute mark of this video, St. John Paul II also “reached out to the marginalized.” And, far from warning against the fight for the unborn and traditional marriage, Pope Francis has repeatedly praised the Evangelical/Catholic alliance that defines FIC and other pro-family groups.

We should pray for Gov. Malloy’s meeting tomorrow. He has maintained his neutrality on assisted suicide, evidence that his conscience–to borrow a phrase– is “not dead yet.” Let us pray that his ambivalence on this issue reawakens in him “the faith which was once for all handed down” (Jude 1:3) and not just the faith of the 1960’s and 70’s.

And let us to do our part to carry on the fight for those precious innocent ones who are held in so much disdain by our governing elites.

The same day Gov. Malloy meets Pope Francis, Wednesday, September 23rd, marks the kickoff of this year’s 40 Days for Life campaign. FIC needs your help to make it a success.

Family Institute of Connecticut Day at Hartford’s abortion clinic will be Wednesday, October 7th from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm. Please call FIC at 860-548-0066 and ask for Larry if you can volunteer to help. You can stay for however long–or short–an amount of time you are available. But please do join us!

The 40 Days for Life will be from September 23 to November 1, 2015. This is the eighth year for the campaign in Hartford and to date 68 babies have been saved during these campaigns. More babies and families can be saved with your help.

Essentials: PRAY and FAST. PUBLIC WITNESS – critical to those who see kindness and commitment! Be a part of the peaceful prayer vigil near the abortion clinic, the Hartford GYN Center at 1 Main St., Hartford, CT. Every pro-lifer is welcome and needed at the abortion clinic from 6:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. every day during the campaign. Churches can sign up for a full day or portion of a day. Individuals can sign up for an hour or more. Come with other pro-life advocates and pray together.
